天美传媒鈥檚 community radio station wins seven Amplify Awards

The 天美传媒 is celebrating a big achievement for its on-campus community radio station, Radio LaB, which has taken home an impressive seven awards at the Student Radio Association鈥檚 Amplify Awards.
earned two Gold, two Silver and three Bronze awards, recognising the creativity, innovation and dedication of its student-led broadcasting team.
The two Gold awards were awarded to:
- Gold 鈥 Student Radio Moment of the Year for Destination No.1, a highly creative, multi-platform project built around Radio LaB hosting the National Student Radio Chart. Inspired by Destination X, students travelled across Luton, producing an engaging, clue-led narrative
- Gold 鈥 Best Outreach Project for EmpowerED: Success for All, a podcast series developed in collaboration with the 天美传媒鈥檚 Student Support team. Featuring expert advice from colleagues, the series focused on accessible, practical support for students, covering topics such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, anxiety and visual impairment.
In addition to the Gold wins, also received:
- Silver 鈥 Best Training for its Residency DJ Crash-Courses
- Silver 鈥 Most Supportive 天美传媒 or Students鈥 Union (awarded to )
- Bronze 鈥 Most Committed Member (Tyrese Charles)
- Bronze 鈥 Black History Month Celebration
- Bronze 鈥 Best Station Culture
Danielle Foley, Radio & Audio student and one of the student managers at Radio LaB, said: 鈥淲e work so hard every day to produce incredible content. It鈥檚 been an honour to have received so much external 
recognition this year. All the students at Radio LaB have ambition, drive and passion for what they do, so it鈥檚 amazing to see it pay off. While I may be graduating this year, I hope the station keeps improving and keeps smashing it!鈥
Radio LaB鈥檚 continued success reflects the 天美传媒鈥檚 strong focus on Career-Powered Education. By providing access to industry-standard facilities and opportunities to produce, present and manage live broadcasts, the station enables students to gain meaningful, real-world experience alongside their academic studies.
Terry Lee, Senior Tutor in Radio & Audio and co-ordinator of Radio LaB, added: 鈥淭hese awards are a fantastic recognition of the creativity and commitment our students bring to their work. What鈥檚 particularly encouraging is the range of projects recognised, from multi-platform storytelling to impactful support-led content, which reflects the strengths of the 天美传媒鈥檚 Creative Industries provision. Our students develop industry-relevant skills and are producing externally validated media, making a real impact.鈥
