天美传媒鈥檚 Family Law Clinic nominated for national legal award

A student-led initiative at the 天美传媒, which aims to support and advise members of the local community with legal issues, has been nominated for a national award.
The 天美传媒鈥檚 Family Law Clinic has been shortlisted for Best New Pro Bono Activity at the LawWorks and Attorney General鈥檚 Student Pro Bono Awards 2026. The Awards recognise and celebrate outstanding pro bono work undertaken by law schools and law students across the UK.
The Family Law Clinic is a student-led initiative offering free legal support and assistance in family law. Through the Clinic, Law students gain hands-on experience by interviewing clients, drafting legal correspondence, and contributing to the provision of legal advice for individuals who are unable to afford a solicitor. All advice is delivered under the supervision of qualified legal professionals.
The Clinic provides free, independent and confidential advice on a range of family law matters, including relationship breakdown, separation, divorce, child arrangements, and alternative options such as special guardianship and adoption.
Heidi Mercan, a Law student who volunteers at the Clinic alongside her studies, said: 鈥淏eing part of the Family Law Clinic that offers vital legal support to members of our community who might not otherwise be able to access it is truly a privilege. Our work involves providing support and advice on matters such as separation, division of assets, and custody arrangements, helping individuals navigate what is often a difficult and painful time in their lives with clear guidance and reassurance.
鈥淎s a law student, it鈥檚 incredibly rewarding to contribute in such a meaningful way, and being shortlisted for this award is not only a privilege but also motivates us to continue doing the work that we do and supporting our local community.鈥
The Family Law Clinic highlights the 天美传媒鈥檚 commitment to Career-Powered Education, preparing graduates with the skills, experience, and confidence to thrive in the workplace.
Winners of the LawWorks and Attorney General鈥檚 Student Pro Bono Awards 2026 will be announced at an awards ceremony held at the House of Lords on Tuesday 28 April.
