Support for Homeless Students
Homelessness and Emergency Accommodation
If you find yourself homeless or unable to access your own accommodation, for any reason, the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ can provide advice and signpost you to the local homelessness and housing services who can provide the appropriate specific information and advice regarding your circumstances.
If it is an emergency and you have nowhere to stay, you should present yourself to your local council and advice them you are homeless and the council housing department can assess and advice you further.
You can also contact student money advice team [email protected] or [email protected] who can review your current circumstances and offer short term support and advice.
International students should also contact [email protected] to seek advice around your VISA obligations.
Finances
Students who find themselves unable to afford accommodation due to personal circumstances can seek advice and support from our Student Money Advice team
All students can access budgeting advice and support by emailing the team at [email protected]. In these sessions staff will work with you to plan your personal finances and help you with making decisions on how to plan your spending.
Home/EU students can access our Access to Learning fund for financial support if you are experiencing hardship.
Unfortunately due to UKVI regulations this is not available to international students and therefore we advise that you speak to [email protected] or [email protected] in the first instance to see what support we can provide you.
Accommodation
Our Student Engagement Team along with our Student Money Advisors can provide advice and support around accessing external services to support you if you are struggling with finding somewhere to live.
The ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ also partners with Campus Living Villages (CLV Luton) and Homes for Students (HfS Bedford) who provide high quality student accommodation for ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ students.
If you would like to speak to one of our advisors please email the teams directly at either [email protected] or [email protected]
In certain emergency situations student support may be able to support up to a maximum of 7 days in either CLV or HfS. An advisor will discuss if this is appropriate for you in an appointment with you and this is always subject to availability and financial resources available.
Students who are UK residents can also seek housing support from your local council and our teams will be happy to guide you through this process if you are struggling with the online process.
Below is also a range of external charities that may also be able to provide advice and support. Please note some of these services may not be able to support non UK residents due to their public funding.
