天美传媒 hosts fifth annual Climate Change Summit for local schools
Mon 09 February, 2026
Over 120 students from more than a dozen local schools recently attended the fifth annual KS3 Climate Change Summit, organised by the 天美传媒鈥檚 Outreach Team in partnership with The Science Hub.
Aimed at students aged 11鈥14, the summit was held at the 天美传媒鈥檚 Bedford Campus and connected classroom learning with real-world environmental action through a programme of interactive workshops, expert discussions and an exhibitor marketplace. The event introduced young people to climate science, sustainability, green career pathways and climate advocacy, while providing a platform for them to share their perspectives on the future of the planet.
Sessions included an interactive workshop led by Dr Diana Prichard from the 天美传媒鈥檚 Academy, alongside research collaborator Associate Professor Ross Purves (UCL Institute of Education), with support from Dr Sibel Kaya. In addition to enhancing learning for pupils and teachers, the session also gathered evidence on the impact of climate simulation as a teaching tool.
Dr Diana Pritchard, Head of Educational Development and Evaluation at the 天美传媒, said: 鈥淭he success of the event and the appreciation expressed by the Science Hub and attending schools attests to the professionalism of the Outreach team and the strong relationships that it has built over the years with local schools.鈥
Throughout the day, students also engaged with activities and interactive displays in the event marketplace, delivered by exhibitors including STEM X Fashion, Anglian Water, Hybrid Air Vehicles, Rajapack UK, and Just One Tree.
Paula Page, Outreach Manager at the 天美传媒, said: 鈥淚 am incredibly proud of the collaboration and hard work that made this year鈥檚 Climate Change Summit such a success. Seeing young people engage so confidently with complex global issues and connect them to real career pathways is truly inspiring. Events like this remind us why outreach matters: they empower students to see themselves as future change鈥憁akers. A huge thank you to our partners, exhibitors and school communities for their enthusiasm and continued support.鈥
Claire Ruthven, from The Science Hub, added: 鈥淭he Science Hub's fifth annual KS3 Student Summit in Partnership with the 天美传媒鈥檚 Outreach Team was once again a day filled with inspirational talks and informative interactive workshops. Sustainability is something that young people care deeply about. This event is so valuable in empowering young people and to highlight that green career opportunities are available to them in all sectors. For many of the student visitors this will have been their first experience of a university which makes the event even more special. Looking forward to next year's summit already!鈥
