Why study Psychology with us
Quality teaching and support for students
The Psychology department at Bedfordshire has an international staff team from several continents with a wealth of expertise across a range of subject and research areas. The department is part of a School that also includes sport science and social science.
With such a wealth of experience and expertise, there are opportunities for you to work collaboratively with staff on research projects and to present outcomes at prestigious conferences.
Your academic team is innovative in its use of different teaching methods, which include virtual learning environments, computer-based learning and assessment, and multimedia instruction.
Enhanced employability
We have conducted research into how the skills fostered by our courses support students’ transitions to employment.
The results of the research have been applied directly to our curricula with the aim of developing the 'professional student'.
We believe that this research-based, career-enabling approach can deliver courses that have both strong psychology content but also provide students with opportunities to develop skills and attributes for future employability.
Excellent facilities
We have a number of specialist laboratories where much of your learning will take place.
Many of the resources are available for students to use to conduct their own research and the labs are open for access when teaching is not taking place. The labs include:
- research cubicles with a range of equipment and technology
- a biological and cognitive psychology lab
- cognitive neuropsychology lab
- virtual-reality lab
- human interaction laboratory (includes observation window)
- general psychology/IT lab
- psychology laboratories' support office.
There is also an excellent library/learning resources centre and a specialist subject liaison tutor to provide help, advice and information.
