Engineering lab Equipped with 24 computers, each with Intel core i5 processors and 8GB RAM.

Mechatronics and electronic engineering lab For additive manufacturing - that is, machines that add material to produce a component. The lab is equipped with solder stations and extractors; construction work benches; and wind tunnel.

Mechatronics and physics lab Equipped with eight computers, each with Intel core i5 processors and 8GB RAM. The lab also contains:

  • 16 waveform generators
  • 16 power supplies
  • 16 digital storage oscilloscopes.

Machine workshop and product design lab Also known as a makers' lab, the lab supports traditional subtractive manufacturing - that is, machines that cut material to produce a component, such as lathes, mills, drills and saws - as well as additive manufacturing - machines that add material to produce a component such as 3D printers and welders.

Additional facilities and resources

You can now use our PCs even when the CECI labs are closed!

We now have eight of our PCs located within the Learning Resources Centre (Library). These can be found on LRC Level 2. These PCs have the same software installation as our generic PCs in the CECI labs.

In addition, all Bedfordshire students in Computer Science, Engineering and Creative Industries are eligible for the following.

  • An account on StudentNET, provided by the department, for managing your course work and your online profile or blog.
  • Access to downloadable software VMware Workstation; Microsoft developer tools are also available.
  • Access to online training courses such as the National Instruments 'self-paced' course.
