About the course
In today's regulatory landscape, corporations require managers versed in business law. This course equips you with both the managerial skills and legal knowledge you need for organisational success. You explore key management areas like marketing, accounting and human resources alongside business law fundamentals, such as contract and intellectual property law. You learn to apply theory to real-world scenarios, becoming an adept manager able to thrive in a broad range of organisational settings.

A Degree with a Foundation Year gives you guaranteed entry to an Undergraduate course.
Whether you’re returning to learning and require additional help and support to up-skill, or if you didn’t quite meet the grades to pursue an Undergraduate course, our Degrees with Foundation Year provide a fantastic entry route for you to work towards a degree level qualification.
With our guidance and support you’ll get up to speed within one year, and will be ready to seamlessly progress on to undergraduate study at Bedfordshire.
The Foundation Year provides an opportunity to build up your academic writing skills and numeracy, and will also cover a range of subject specific content to fully prepare you for entry to an Undergraduate degree.
This is an integrated four-year degree, with the foundation year as a key part of the course. You will need to successfully complete the Foundation Year to progress on to the first year of your bachelor’s degree.

ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ing our Business Management with Law BSc (Hons) course will equip you with the knowledge and skills in the combined areas of business and its legal frameworks. Embedded within the course design is an opportunity for you to develop research skills, employability skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, professional and responsible behaviours, and be transformed into knowledgeable and effective managers in any working environment. This course will enable you to explore legal contexts in depth. In your first year, you will receive support in Beginning your Professional Business Journey that will help to ease your transition into university and provide an insight into professional business environments. In Evolution and Revolution of Business, you will explore how businesses operate, develop, progress and impact society while examining how certain business trends have evolved over time. To diversify your learning, you will also be provided with a range of skills for leadership, entrepreneurship, marketing, management analysis, strategy setting and finance in our Management in Practice unit. It is also important that you understand how contracts are formed and regulated, as well as the legal issues that arise when contractual relationships break down. This is where our unit in Contract Law will allow you to explore principles of contract law and how it protects both businesses and consumers.
In your second year, our Law of Tort unit will allow you to explore the role of Tort in a societal context through engaging with common law principles while also critically analysing and evaluating case law. To prepare you for your career, Employability and the Future Workplace will support you in developing the skills needed to prepare for interviews, psychometric tests and assessment centres. In addition, when working in business, it is also important that you build on your employability skills such as teamwork, time management, presentation and communication. This is where our Managing Business Complexity unit will support your development of these skills while exposing you to real-life, complex business issues and how to create viable solutions for clients based on this. Data and Research Methods for Business will provide you with the knowledge and skills to conduct research and analyse data in a business context. Another crucial skill in the business world is risk management, and this is where our Risk and Responsibility unit will develop your understanding of business challenges, responsible management and business ethics in a global context. Here, you will learn to apply risk management frameworks and risk mitigation strategies across systemic, financial, operational and strategic risks.
In your final year, our Strategic Leadership unit will enable you to design realistic and practical strategies for businesses and identify trends while developing your employability skills. With significant relevance to business, you will be able to build on your knowledge on the nature of companies and business functions in Company Law in the context of the legal framework in which they are regulated. In other areas of study, you will tackle environmental issues in Business Continuity and the Planet that will allow you to investigate the strategic risks and challenges posed towards business operations including climate change, cybersecurity and supply chain risks. Furthermore, you will also be given an overview of Intellectual Property Law and the concept of intangible property before considering contemporary legal issues around intellectual property rights. Finally, you will conduct a thorough piece of academic research exploring evidence-based solutions for business problems in our Business Project unit that will allow you to gain a deeper understanding of the academic research paradigms. This course also aims to offer a range of employability and career opportunities through practice-based pedagogies utilising business cases, simulations and live projects - preparing you for the future workplace. At the same time, you will learn from our staff that have significant years of experience in the industry and have actively engaged in supporting SMEs through our Research and Innovation Services.
