About the course
In today's regulatory landscape, corporations require managers versed in business law. This course equips you with both the managerial skills and legal knowledge you need for organisational success. You explore key management areas like marketing, accounting and human resources alongside business law fundamentals, such as contract and intellectual property law. You learn to apply theory to real-world scenarios, becoming an adept manager able to thrive in a broad range of organisational settings.

This course has the option to be taken over four years which includes a year placement in industry. Undertaking a year in industry has many benefits. You gain practical experience and build your CV, as well as being a great opportunity to sample a profession and network with potential future employers.
There is no tuition fee for the placement year enabling you to gain an extra year of experience for free.

A Degree with a Foundation Year gives you guaranteed entry to an Undergraduate course.
Whether you’re returning to learning and require additional help and support to up-skill, or if you didn’t quite meet the grades to pursue an Undergraduate course, our Degrees with Foundation Year provide a fantastic entry route for you to work towards a degree level qualification.
With our guidance and support you’ll get up to speed within one year, and will be ready to seamlessly progress on to undergraduate study at Bedfordshire.
The Foundation Year provides an opportunity to build up your academic writing skills and numeracy, and will also cover a range of subject specific content to fully prepare you for entry to an Undergraduate degree.
This is an integrated four-year degree, with the foundation year as a key part of the course. You will need to successfully complete the Foundation Year to progress on to the first year of your bachelor’s degree.

Evolution and revolution in business – Explore the historical development of business through lectures and workshops. Contract law – Understand legal principles relating to the formation of contracts, their validity, interpretation, performance and remedies for breach. Beginning your professional business journey – Take on business challenges and collaborate with peers in a professional environment.
Year 2
Employability and the future workplace – Produce a checklist-based portfolio with evidence of learning and development to enhance your employability. Risk and responsibility – Apply risk assessment tools and techniques to respond to various types of risk in business. Managing business complexity – Use the knowledge and skills you have gained to solve complex business issues. Employment law – ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ the law governing the employment relationship and the regulation of working life, including the influence of European law. Corporate and business law – Develop knowledge of corporate law and its legal context. Data and research methods for business – Learn research methods to support critical research in business issues.
Year 3
Strategic leadership – Extend your capacity for strategic leadership in a VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) business environment. Business continuity and the planet – Explore the range of contemporary challenges and threats to business continuity and environmental issues. Company law – Understand the functions of a company when running a business, and of the legal framework which regulates companies. Intellectual property law – Examine the intellectual property law of England and Wales and compare it with IP law in other jurisdictions. Business project – Independently design, plan, manage and execute a research project.
